On Tuesday, I told you about my tax-day madness. The day I stole my toddler's cookies just to numb the noise in my head. As someone with degrees in Economics and Engineering from UCI, I rely heavily on logic. I build systems for a living. I treat the human body like a machine. But in that exact moment, my own human hardware was failing. Every fitness influencer on Instagram tells you to just “use willpower,” put the cookies down, and go for a run. But when you're the one keeping the entire household alive, your willpower account is bankrupt by 9:00 AM. You can't think your way out of a thinking problem. I tried to use the exact breathing technique I teach my private clients. I closed my eyes and tried to force my nervous system to just calm down. But guess what? The stress didn't magically vanish. My brain was still redlining, playing a highlight reel of everything I was failing at. One deep breath isn't a magic pill when your engine is already on fire. This is where most of us give up. We assume our approach is broken or we just lack the discipline to change. But the reality is much different. Your nervous system is flooded. You can't run elite software on a broken machine.
I was sitting there, cookies in hand, about to completely surrender to the couch. But then I used a specific SOP to get myself out of the hole. It's a 2-minute “Escape Map” I built to break the mental loop anywhere, anytime. It wasn't pretty, but it worked. I'll show you the exact map I used to finally get in the pool on Saturday.
PS: Courtney and I were laughing later because Kona was sitting right there judging me while I ate those cookies. Keep an eye out for Saturday's email. I'll show you exactly how to use this Escape Map so you can stop the thought loop dead in its tracks. |
